‘type.convert()’, ‘read.table()’ and similar ‘read.*()’ functions get a new ‘exact’ argument, specifying how numeric input is converted when its conversion to double precision loses accuracy. The default ‘exact = NA’ corresponds to numeric conversion with a warning about accuracy loss.
