‘libzstd’ is required. For R 4.7.0 only, this can be circumvented by configuring with ‘--without-libzstd’.
‘str()’'s output puts a space (‘" "’) after ‘"<some>:"’ and ‘"attr(*, \"<....>\")="’ consistently now, addressing PR#18719 by Dave Slager and Novica Nakov. This was achieved by no longer _pre_pending spaces, such that e.g., ‘str(pi)’'s output no longer starts with a space.
This should have little effect on (‘R CMD check’)s, as ‘R CMD Rdiff’ does _not_ show such differences.
‘extSoftVersion()[["zstd"]]’ now reports the version of the ‘libzstd’ compression library if available, thanks to Trevor Davis' patch proposal in PR#18914.
